American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA)

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act provides funding for a variety of programs and services within the Department of Social Services. Details on services funded through ARRA will be posted here as they become available.

Child Care
  • Grants for Rural OST Programs
    Currently licensed Out of School Time (OST) programs in communities with a population of 10,000 or fewer may apply for operational sustainability grants. Note: Limited to stand-alone OST programs holding a current State OST license.
  • Provider Scholarships for Infant-Toddler Training
    Currently licensed or registered providers caring for children ages 3 and younger are encouraged to apply for scholarships to attend a variety of infant-toddler training opportunities.
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Maximum Monthly Benefits Increase
    As of April 1, 2009, most South Dakota households receiving food stamp benefits saw an increase in their maximum monthly benefit amounts.
