Correctional Behavioral Health

The Division of Correctional Behavioral Health is responsible for provision of mental health, chemical dependency and psychiatric services to youth and men and women in the state's correctional institutions.

The mission is to provide ongoing, quality, client specific chemical dependency and mental health services; supports our commitment to develop, enhance, and implement programming to serve the needs of all those under the supervision of the Department of Corrections. The department works in conjunction with the Department of Corrections to ensure the chemical dependency prevention and treatment needs and mental health needs of both adolescents and adults are addressed. 

Chemical dependency counselors and mental health professionals are located in the state's correctional institutions and provide the following services:

  • Group and individual therapy
  • Intake screenings
  • Assessments and evaluation
  • Crisis management and intervention
  • Consultation with Department of Corrections Staff
  • Treatment plan development
  • Family Counseling for youth
  • Inmate Counseling for adults
  • Staff training and education
  • Discharge planning

The Division of Correctional Behavioral Health contracts with licensed psychiatrists to provide psychiatric consultations, diagnosis and treatment plan services.
