The regulation of child care providers in South Dakota does not guarantee quality; however it does mean the provider has met minimum health and safety standards including:

• Number of staff needed
• Nutritious meals and snacks
• Amount of space needed
• Types of program activities
• Ages and qualifications for staff
• Health practices
• Fire and life safety features

Note:  If you are interested in receiving a statewide listing of all regulated South Dakota child care providers you MUST call Child Care Services at 1-800-227-3020. Depending on your intended usage (which must be stated), a small fee may be required.
