The Department of Social Services Hires Human Services Center Administrator

PIERRE, S.D. – The Department of Social Services (DSS) has named Troy Jones as the Human Services Center (HSC) hospital administrator.

Jones has dedicated his career to serving individuals with behavioral health needs. He has a Doctorate of Psychology in addition to a Bachelors and Masters in Psychology. Jones is slated to start his position on Tuesday, May 24, 2016.

“I am confident Troy has the necessary skills to lead the hospital and maintain the standard of excellence in patient care the people of South Dakota have come to know,” said state Department of Social Services Secretary Lynne Valenti.

Currently, Jones is the executive director/hospital administrator at the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute. In addition to his experience as an administrator, Jones also has a background working as a clinical psychologist.

“Troy’s extensive knowledge and background, as well as his experience as hospital administrator with the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute will be a great asset to the hospital, staff and patients,” said Secretary Valenti.

HSC is a licensed in-patient state psychiatric hospital and chemical dependency treatment facility which provides services for acute, psychiatric rehabilitation, geriatric and adolescent patients. The hospital is located in Yankton, S.D., and has been providing care to the people of South Dakota since 1879.

Since December 2015, Glenn Black has been serving as the interim administrator at HSC. Black’s extensive background in hospital administration made him an ideal candidate for providing interim administrator support to HSC.
