Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

Eligibility for Supplemental Security Income is determined by the Social Security Administration. Individuals qualifying for a SSI payment are automatically entitled to Medical Assistance; therefore, there is no need for SSI recipients to apply for Medical Assistance.

Eligibility Requirements

• An individual must be aged, blind or disabled.
  
• Income and resources of the family are considered.

Eligible families are entitled to full Medical Assistance coverage. Covered services include:

• doctor appointments,
• hospital stays,
• dental and vision services,
• prescription drugs,
• rehab/therapy,
• chiropractic services

Medical coverage may begin three months prior to the application date. The start of medical coverage is based on the date the application is received in the local office.
