Medical Eligibility

New Arrivals to the United States

The Department of Social Services provides the following Medical Assistance to refugees just arriving to the United States. 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a refugee.
  • Resource limit is $1,000. Resources include items such as checking and savings accounts and certificates of deposit.
  • Monthly Income Limit is shown below.

Covered Services:

Children who are eligible are entitled to full Medical Assistance coverage. Covered services include:

  • Doctor Appointments
  • Hospital Stays
  • Dental and Vision Services
  • Prescription Drugs
  • Rehab/Therapy
  • Chiropractic
  • Others

Coverage is limited to 8 months from a person's entry to the United States.
