Medicaid Electronic Health Records Incentive Payment Program

Electronic Health Records

Electronic Health Records (EHRs) play a key role in improving quality and safety, facilitating access to care while improving efficiency.

The Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Payment Program was established by the Health Information Technology Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act of 2009 to promote the use of Electronic Health Records by providers.

The Medicaid Electronic Health
Record Incentive Payment Program will provide incentive payments for eligible professionals and eligible hospitals for adopting (acquiring, installing), implementing (starting utilization of EHR), upgrading (expanding EHR use) or meaningful use of certified EHRs in the first year of participation and for demonstrating meaningful use for up to five remaining participation years.

Register to participate in the South Dakota Medicaid EHR Incentive Payment Program.
