Ric Compton Named Administrator
of Human Services Center
YANKTON, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Social Services has named Ric Compton as the new administrator at the Human Services Center (HSC) in Yankton.
Before accepting the HSC position, Compton served as Director of Clinic Operations and Behavioral Health Services for Affinity Medical Group in Appleton, Wis. He holds a Master of Public Health Degree from the University of Michigan.
"Ric comes to us with many years of experience in management and leadership roles at agencies serving people with behavioral health needs," said Gov. Dennis Daugaard. "He brings a proven track record of improving the outcomes and lives of those individuals."
Compton will assume the HSC administrator position in June.
"My family and I are excited about our move to South Dakota," Compton said. "I'm very impressed with the delivery of patient care at the Human Services Center, and I look forward to working with HSC staff to continue providing exceptional care to people with behavioral health needs."
"I am very pleased to welcome Ric, his wife, Deb, and son, Noah, to South Dakota, and especially to the Yankton community," said Lt. Gov. Matt Michels, who lives in Yankton. "HSC has a rich history of providing high-quality services to people with behavioral health needs. With its dedicated staff and Ric's leadership, I'm sure the center will continue to have a pivotal role in that system of care."
The HSC administrator position had been vacant since last July's resignation of Cory Nelson. Pam VanMeeteren, clinical director at the Human Services Center, has served as interim administrator during the vacancy.
HSC has provided services in South Dakota since 1879, and is a division of the South Dakota Department of Social Services.
