The effects of the rules will be to repeal duplicative and obsolete rules, update outdated information, align rules with current practice, clarify language of certain rules, more specifically identify coverage groups, ensure compliance with federal regulations, and comply with changes due to the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. 

Persons interested in presenting data, opinions, and arguments for or against the proposed rules may do so by appearing in person at the hearing or by sending them to the Teresa Schulte, Department of Social Services, 700 Governors Drive, Pierre, SD 57501. Material sent by mail must reach the Department of Social Services by November 1, 2014, to be considered. 

For purposes of assisting the Department to fully understand the issues being addressed, individuals intending to present oral testimony at the hearing are asked to make a written copy of their testimony available to the Department. Written comments and testimony must relate directly to the changes being proposed and must cite the specific rule number to which the comments are being directed.

Interested persons may, at any time prior to the hearing, obtain copies of the proposed rules by contacting Teresa Schulte, Department of Social Services, 700 Governors Drive, Pierre, SD 57501.  Copies of the proposed rules are also available at:  http://rules.sd.gov.

Behavioral Health Advisory Council
Quarterly Meeting
November 4, 2014

The Department of Social Services,  Division of Behavioral Health will be holding a Behavioral Health Advisory Council quarterly meeting on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (CDT) at the Redrossa Italian Grill, 808 West Sioux Ave, Pierre SD.

Individuals who are interested in the behavioral health services system may appear in person at the meeting site. Written comments can be sent to the Department of Social Services, Division of Behavioral Health, Kneip Building, c/o 700 Governor’s Drive, Pierre, SD 57501. DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDY FAMILIES (TANF) PROGRAM STATE PLAN AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC COMMENT.

The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program’s proposed state plan for federal fiscal year 2015 is now available for public review.

South Dakota citizens have until November 21, 2014, to review and comment on the proposed state plan.  A copy of the proposed state plan may be obtained by writing:  TANF Program, Department of Social Services, 700 Governors Drive, Pierre, SD 57501-2291.  Written comments will be received at the address indicated above.  For more information call 605-773-4678.

The final adopted rules have been filed with the secretary of state.  They will become effective on December 3, 2014. A copy of the final rules may be found on rules.sd.gov
