South Dakota Medical Assistance provides a large range of, but not all, prescription drugs, diabetes supplies, family planning prescriptions, supplies and devices. SDMA does not cover most over the counter drugs except for: loratadine, Prilosec OTC, and pediculicides (e.g. permethrin).
SDMA recipients aged 21 and older are required to pay a portion of the costs of their medical care. The cost share is $3 for each covered brand-name prescription or refill; however, there is no cost share for covered generic medications.
