Eligibility for Supplemental Security Income is determined by the Social Security Administration. Individuals qualifying for a SSI payment are automatically entitled to Medical Assistance; therefore, there is no need for SSI recipients to apply for Medical Assistance.

Eligibility Requirements

  • An individual must be aged, blind or disabled.
  • Income and resources of the family are considered.

For further explanation of the SSI program, contact the local office in your area. You can also call Social Security toll-free at 1-800-772-1213.

Covered Services

Eligible families are entitled to full Medical Assistance coverage. Covered services include:

  • doctor appointments,
  • hospital stays,
  • dental and vision services,
  • prescription drugs,
