Dental Services

South Dakota Medical Assistance covers a range of dental services for adults and children.

• Dentures and partial dentures in some specific medically necessary circumstances; however, it requires pre-authorization.
• Extensive services that also require pre-authorization include:
  • Orthodontia which is covered only in limited, medically necessary circumstances and only for those under 21.

Dental providers who want to participate in SDMA must enroll enroll with the program. However, claims administration, prior authorization and other dental administrative functions are facilitated by Delta Dental of South Dakota, 1-800-627-3961.
