Secure Medical Transportation

South Dakota Medicaid covers non-emergency transportation to or from medically necessary appointments when the services are covered by Medicaid and are provided by an enrolled Medicaid provider. Covered transportation is from your home to a medical provider, between medical providers, or from a medical provider to your home. Secure medical transportation is only covered for recipients confined to a wheelchair or recipients who require transportation on a stretcher. Confined to a wheelchair means being unable to walk without the continuous aid of another person or unable to walk in any circumstance.
