Secure Medical Transportation

South Dakota Medicaid covers non-emergency transportation to or from medically necessary appointments when the services are covered by Medicaid and are provided by an enrolled Medicaid provider. Covered transportation is from your home to a medical provider, between medical providers, or from a medical provider to your home. Secure medical transportation is only covered for recipients confined to a wheelchair or recipients who require transportation on a stretcher. Confined to a wheelchair means being unable to walk without the continuous aid of another person or unable to walk in any circumstance.

South Dakota Medicaid Secure Medical Transportation providers can be found below. Always ask the provider you are calling if the trip appears to be covered by Medicaid and provide your Medicaid ID number.
