If you don’t have insurance and/or are unable to afford your medications, there are other resources available to help you access medications used to treat mental illness and substance use disorders. These resources range from applying for insurance through South Dakota Medicaid or the Health Insurance Marketplace to information and links to programs to apply for assistance including low-cost co-payments or free medications through a variety of programs.

Patient Assistant Programs
Patient Assistance Programs (PAPs) help people who have no health insurance or are underinsured afford medications. PAPs may cover the full cost of medications or provide a discount. The benefits received vary from program to program and each often have different requirements.
