Reimbursement of Adoption Home Study

25-6-9.1. Home study report––Requirement––Cost.

ARSD 67:14:32:32. Reimbursement of home study. The department shall
reimburse up to $3,000 for a home study in accordance with SDCL 25-6-9.1.

1. Reimbursement for an adoption home study up to $3000.00 will be made to a licensed child placement agency, as defined in § 26-6-14, or a certified social worker eligible to engage in private independent practice, as defined in § 36-26-17. Any person who submitted home studies under this section or under § 26-4-15 prior to July 1, 1990, may continue to submit home study reports without meeting the above requirements.
2. Providers are requested to submit reimbursement requests within 60 days of home study completion to expedite payments.
3. Download and print Request for Reimbursement of Adoption Home Study form and W9 form.
4. Email the below reimbursement documents to DSSAHSRR@state.sd.us.
• Request for Reimbursement of Adoption Home Study form
• Invoice with the following information:
• Provider’s name and address
• Family name on home study
• Date of invoice
• Completion of home study date
• Break down of the cost of services to equal total amount of reimbursement
• W9 (must be signed and dated in last 12 months)
• Completed adoption home study and attachments, including background checks.
• Provider license or credentials
5. DSS will process a voucher for reimbursement which will be paid through the State of South Dakota Auditor’s Office. 
6. The reimbursement process may take 2-4 weeks from the date the request is submitted.
