COVID-19 & Unwinding the Continuous Coverage Requirement
During the COVID-19 federal public health emergency, federal regulations did not allow Medicaid coverage to close, even for recipients who were not eligible. Effective April 1, 2023, federal regulations again allowed for Medicaid to close. Learn more about Medicaid coverage and benefits during the public health emergency in our COVID-19 Recipient FAQs.

Over the next several months, DSS staff will be redetermining Medicaid eligibility. Visit the Important Changes Coming Soon to Medicaid Eligibility to find resources and information about the end of the continuous coverage requirement.

Primary Care Provider Program
You may be required to choose a Primary Care Provider (PCP). A PCP provides most medical services and helps you get services from other specialty providers that you need. Visit the Primary Care Program page to learn more or to choose or change your PCP.

Health Homes Program
The Health Homes program provides you with a medical team focused on you and helps make sure you get the care you need to stay healthy. If you have certain chronic conditions or suffer from severe mental or emotional health issues you may qualify for this program. Visit our Health Homes page to find out more.
