Benefit Fraud

South Dakotans who receive program or service benefits from the Department of Social Services have a need for them.

Unfortunately, there may be people who intentionally obtain benefits who do not have a need for them. These people are committing fraud, which is a crime.

These people are also placing a bigger burden on taxpayers by increasing the cost of benefit programs. By reducing fraud, the Office of Recoveries and Fraud Investigations helps to ensure funds are available to those who need assistance.
