ADA Policy

The South Dakota Board of Counselor Examiners requires a satisfactory score on the National Board for Counselor Certification (NBCC) National Counselor Examination (NCE) for licensure as a professional counselor.

A passing score is required on the National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Examination (NCMHCE) for licensure as a professional mental health counselor. These tests are owned by the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc., and the administration of these tests is governed by that organization. Therefore, the South Dakota Board of Counselor Examiners must follow the ADA policies established by the NBCC.

To learn more about the NBCC's ADA policy please contact NBCC directly at:

You can begin the process of requesting a special testing accommodation for any examination by completing the Documentation of Disability and Related Needs form.
