1115 Demonstrations

Section 1115 of the Social Security Act gives the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) authority to approve experimental, pilot, or demonstration projects that are found by the HHS Secretary to likely assist in promoting the objectives of the Medicaid program. The demonstrations give states additional flexibility to design and improve their Medicaid programs. In addition, 1115 demonstrations allow states to evaluate state-specific policy approaches to better serve the Medicaid population. Information about South Dakota’s 1115 demonstrations is provided below.

SDCareerLink Demonstration

South Dakota Medicaid will not be submitting the SDCareerLink 1115 Demonstration application to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The State will instead focus on implementing the Medicaid community engagement requirements contained in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
